By mid 1960 Edward Turner's tiny tiger had had many, but not all, of it's niggling inbuilt faults developed out by the long suffering Cub owner. The troublesome, overstressed crankshaft assembly was now more rigidly supported by centre split crankcases, and fed by a better oil pump. Larger 17'' wheels were fitted together with a wider rear swing arm and longer dampers. For servicing you could remove the head without dropping the engine, and many other small improvements made the Tiger Cub a much more reliable ride. Sales figures show that this model year became the most successful one in the Cub's whole production life with around 11,000 units manufactured. This was partly due to the attractive Crystal Grey monotone panel work with it's Bikini Panels tidying up the underseat area, making this very smart version the best looking T20 road model so far.
CRY 7K, which was re-registered in 1972 hence the K plate, was manufactured in 1960 and the matching engine and frame numbers denote that it benefits from the improvements above. The property of a renowned motorcycle specialist, this lovely bike looks to be in excellent restored condition and correct in most details. Tiger Cub values have soared in recent years and continue to rise partly due to their light weight, low seat height and quite adequate performance even in today's traffic. All parts are easy to find and the marque is supported by a number of specialists and an active owners club. Entered at a very reasonable reserve this machine will surely find a new owner in this sale.
