Chassis No: 5F08A804224
Mot Expiry: Aug 2012

Ford's immortal first generation Mustang had its first public viewing at the New York World's Fair of April 1964. It was the first of the so-called 'pony' cars that subsequently included the Chevy Camaro, AMC Javelin and revamped Chrysler Barracuda. It also inspired such Coupes from elsewhere in the world as the Ford Capri and Toyota Celica. It was styled in house under the direction of Joe Oros and utilised as many components as possible from the existing Falcon and Fairlane models, in order to minimise cost. Soon available in Coupe, Convertible and Fastback guise, the Ford could be bought with a range of straight-six and V8 engines.

This most handsome of classic Mustangs is a 1965 Convertible finished in its original colour of Raven Black complemented by a Red interior and equipped with a power-operated hood. The desirable 289ci V8 powerplant (A code 225bhp) is mated to a four-speed Top Loader manual gearbox. During recent months the four-seater has reportedly benefited from over £11,500 worth of new parts including: a complete dual exhaust with headers; fuel and water pumps; fuel filter; HT leads; Weiland alloy inlet manifold; Holly four-barrel carburettor; alloy radiator; fan and shroud; complete suspension for front and rear; complete braking system; new complete air conditioning unit; power ram for the convertible roof; the refurbishment of both cylinder heads; and the correct "style" chrome wheels shod with BFGoodrich tyres. 'YRD 403C' has also been freshly repainted and re-trimmed, and treated to a GT grille and spot lights at an additional cost of some £10,000.

The vendor not surprisingly now considers this matching numbers fast Ford to have "excellent" bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and gearbox and says it "drives great". He is selling it complete with all the original tools in correct boot bag, "very nice" history file and MOT into August.

PLEASE NOTE: The vendor informs us that this lot has had just over £17,500 spent on it in the last month.
