Now in its fifth generation, BMW's much-vaunted M3 remains a front runner among the ranks of mid-sized performance tin tops. Each successive version has been great in its own right but, for some aficionados, the purity of the original M30 version has never quite been matched. The stunning-looking example now offered is No.128 of just 148 Europameister editions built, and is finished in the decidedly attractive combination of Macao Blue bodywork complemented by a quality Grey hide interior. It has been in the current ownership for 16 years, where it has apparently been maintained regardless of cost and housed in a heated garage under a tailored indoor cover, that's included in the sale. Though currently displaying a lifelong total of 173,500 kilometres, it has averaged a mere 156 miles per annum since 2003 yet, even when stored, it has been started regularly and the oil (Motul) changed every 12 months. Relatively recent attention has included the replacement of the: suspension bushes with OEM ones; timing chain and tensioners; water pump; brake calipers.

The only non-standard items are a Supersprint cat bypass pipe that links to an OEM back box and a later Evo steering wheel, though the original items are available if required. Five years ago 'F23 UJH' was treated to a full glass-out, doors-off £8,000 repaint by the Porsche-approved bodyshop Road and Race Restoration. This most eye-catching of BMWs is now offered complete with extensive service history, all bills and MOTs since being imported to the UK, original user manuals and service book, BMW build sheet, items of marketing material, and photos of the respray, plus a current MOT valid into June this year. Features of all Europameister examples are the centre console plaque reading "Europameister 1988 auf BMW M3" and signed by driver Roberto Ravaglia, M-stripe lapels on the seats, 'M3' sill plates, and 'M' driver's footrest.
