Performance flagship of the Ford Capri MKIII range, the 2.8 Injection was introduced in 1981. Powered by a lusty Cologne V6 engine allied to four-speed (and later five-speed) manual transmission, it was capable of 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds and 130mph.

Finished in striking Rosso Red with Grey Recaro interior, ‘D974 XAV’ was supplied new to a certain Miss Sharp and then later owned by the engineer Ken Costello (of MGB GT V8 development fame). Accompanying paperwork includes the Ford’s first ever MOT certificate, original service book, owner’s handbook, numerous old MOTs and assorted invoices etc. Dry stored for seven years prior to being acquired by renowned car dealer, collector and historic racer John Brown in 2012, he then set about restoring the Capri. Stripped down, the bodyshell was refurbished and the mechanicals gone through. The Cologne V6 was thoroughly overhauled and tuned to develop a claimed twenty percent more power. The suspension bushes and ball joints were replaced, the interior leather re-upholstered and new tyres fitted etc. Having covered less than 1,000 miles since its refurbishment was completed in 2014, ‘D974 XAV’ remains highly presentable. The vendor informs us that this appealing ‘Fast Ford’ runs and drives well and will be presented for sale with a fresh MOT certificate.
