Chassis No: SCAZN20C0VCH59164
Mot Expiry: Nov 2011

The Silver Spur was the moniker adopted by Rolls-Royce for the long wheelbase versions of the Silver Spirit, and belonged to a new generation of models that also included that marque's Flying Spur, Silver Dawn, Touring Limousine and Park Ward, and the Mulsanne and Eight Series models of its sister company, Bentley. Penned by Fritz Feller, the range was first represented at the 1980 Paris Salon and was a welcome replacement for the long-serving Silver Shadow and its siblings. The design was not entirely new, however, and employed the floorpan of the outgoing model as well as its proven OHV 6750cc V8 powerplant. The opulent newcomer was lower and longer than its predecessor though and, courtesy of its finely-tuned hydraulic self-levelling suspension, was said to provide the best roadholding ever offered by the marque at that time. There were a total of four iterations of the range, via which the models remained in production until 1998.

The Silver Spur on sale is a 1997 model year 'New' or Spur IV example. It is presented in the striking colours of Black over Maroon and features a suitably sumptuous Maroon-piped Black leather interior. It is thought to be one of only 361 examples built for the world market between 1996 and 1998, and is powered by a 300bhp light pressure turbo version of Rolls-Royce's ubiquitous 6750cc V8 engine. 'P994 TMA' was first registered to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars at Crewe and remained in the company's employ until passed to official Rolls-Royce and Bentley dealer Broughtons. They apparently retailed the car on two occasions prior to it being sold on privately. According to the vendor, the car's comprehensive specification is similar to that of the so called Springfield Editions produced to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Rolls-Royce's association with North America and includes: Mulliner Park Ward Button style interior package, Chrome instrument bezels, Cocktail cabinets, Mirror-backed picnic tables, Extended front seat runners, Chrome knuckle reading lamps, Video system and Upgraded entertainment package. This splendid-looking Rolls-Royce comes with extensive service history, and details of previous MOTs dating back to 2000, that support the current mileage of 110,825. The Spur is taxed and MOT'd until the end of November.
