1929 Standard Nine Teignmouth Van

Sold for £7,650

Lot details
Registration No: UW 935
Chassis No: 97722
Mot Expiry: May 2003

R.W. Maudslay's Company had modest beginnings in 1903 but by 1906 they were marketing Britain's first inexpensive six-cylinder model. They specialised in medium range cars through the 1920's but it was the Nine that helped them move on and in fact they acquired Triumph in 1945.
This delightful Teignmouth 9.9hp van was originally a fabric model saloon that was registered on the 15th October 1929. Most of its life was spent being laid up and it was eventually found and converted into its present commercial configuration in the late 1970's. A lot of work has been completed on the vehicle in recent times, but indeed this was all finished by late 1996 since when some 1400 miles have been completed, including winning a rally with the Standard Club at the Garstang of Fleetwood meeting in 1998.
The engine and gearbox have been completed rebuilt in the last three months and we are informed that there is a spare engine with the vehicle as well as some other spares. There are four files detailing all the work and expenditure on the vehicle and is only reluctantly for sale due to a recent bereavement.
