Reynard Motorsport was at one time the largest racing car maker in the world, producing successful cars for many formulae, including Formula Ford, Formula 3, American ChampCar - and F3000. It was also a co-development partner with British American Racing, helping to create its first Formula 1 cars (B.A.R. later metamorphosed into Works Honda outfit before becoming the current Brawn GP team). The Bicester and Brackley based company, founded by Adrian Reynard in 1973, received the Queen's Award for Export Achievement in 1990 and 1996. The 94D is one of its proven successful designs and this particular example, then fitted with Honda-derived Mugen V8 power, was used in the 1994 and 1995 All-Japan F3000 Championship series by drivers including Tyrrell protégé Toranosuke Tagaki, who took it to his first F3000 win, at Suko in 1995. He was racing in F1 by 1998.
Currently presented in the livery of a Michael Schumacher Ferrari from the 1996 period, which it resembles, this car is described by the vendor as "beautiful" and "nigh on perfect", and, though it is engineless with no gears in the transmission casing, it retains such important componentry as electrics, steering, brakes and instruments. "She could easily be made to perform again, or would make a really good Formula 1 show car in the colours of your favourite driver or manufacturer" adds the vendor. "Great hire potential and currently making as much as £800 a time - or could easily go back to the track".
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
