Lot details Registration No: 650 XUG Chassis No: 26072 Mot Expiry: July 2013
This attractive Dark Blue, manual transmission Series I TD21 Saloon was manufactured in 1959, the first year of production. According to its history file, the Alvis was purchased by Lieutenant Colonel R Beaven of Trowbridge, Wiltshire in November 1962 for £1,325. Between 1984 and 1986 it was reportedly treated to an extensive body-off restoration by its then owner Mr D C F Meynell of Newborough, Burton-on-Trent. The vendor acquired the car in March 1993 when the odometer read around 31,500 miles, and has covered approximately 9,000 miles in his years of ownership. The TD21's age-related registration `650 XUG' replaced the original `WLY 95' in 2007. The clutch was renewed in 1993; the steering linkages, kingpins, brakes, dynamo and fuel system were all attended to by marque specialists Red Triangle in 2005; the o/s door sill replaced, the bodywork resprayed, brightwork refreshed, electronic ignition fitted, and rear wheel cylinders replaced in 2008; the battery renewed in 2010; general checkover, cooling fan attended to and radiator re-cored in 2012. `650 XUG' is being sold complete with a history file including photos of the restoration, old and new V5s, plus various old MOTs and one valid into July 2013. Just 592 Saloon versions of the Series I TD21 were manufactured, making this a relatively rare car.
