H&H are indebted to the vendor for the following description:
"The Riley Gamecock, a sporting tourer, was introduced at the 1931 Olympia Motor Show, and was discontinued in early 1933 after about 250 cars had been made. Thought to have been named after the RAF's Gloster Gamecock fighter, it was blooded in the 1932 Alpine Trial, where the Works team won an Alpine Cup and the 1100cc class, andin the 1933 Monte Carlo Rally. A two-seater body on the standard Nine chassis allowed for huge baggage space for long-distance fast touring, and most owners chose the optional tuned Special Series engine with two SU carburettors. There is a remote control gearbox.
The present car, 'WD 4135', has the Special Series engine, with some additional mild upgrading including a four-branch exhaust manifold by Blue Diamond. The car is structurally original, and the modifications for long-distance work are readily reversible - rev counter, Kenlowe fan, sump shield, grid for extra luggage. The engine has been converted to unleaded fuel, the electrics have been rewired and upgraded to take halogen lighting and the magneto refurbished all by Riley specialist Keith Pointing. Much restoration work (details available) was undertaken by the last owner 2004-2007, including renewal of the ash frame wherever necessary, and new tyres. Since then the car has been little used, and always garaged. The interior leather, and the hood, sidescreens and tonneau cover are almost new. Paint and brightwork are excellent. There is a VSCC buff form, MOT to May 2009, continuation logbook and modern V5C registration document".
