Sold for £5,750

Following the introduction of the Driving Test in 1935, greater emphasis was placed on knowledge of the Highway Code and road safety generally. Charles H Pugh Ltd, better known for their horticultural machinery and more specifically their distinctive green lawn mowers, designed the Atco Junior Trainer for use in schools for demonstrations in car handling and road safety. They were fitted with the ubiquitous Villiers 98cc, two stroke, petrol engines and boasted a top speed of 10mph, with just one forward gear and reverse.
This barn-fresh example appears to be complete but in need of full restoration. The original 98cc Villiers unit appears to have been replaced with a later unit, resulting in modification to the bootlid.
