Lot details Registration No: CCX734B Chassis No: SGT-123 Mot Expiry: May 2003
The Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn's successor was the 1957 Silver Cloud, a 6230cc V8 replacing the 4887cc six for the Cloud II in 1959. In 1963, an extra pair of headlamps were added on the Cloud III, which was available in longer wheelbase limo form as well as a drophead coupe. A total of 2044 Cloud IIIs were made, 253 being lwbs, before the Silver Shadow replacement in 1965. With the Shadow being the first R-R to be of unitary construction, the Cloud III was therefore the last to employ the separate chassis.
The Yorkshire entrant tells us that the first owner of the 1964-manufactured handbuilt Cloud III on offer only parted with it in August 2001, a fact confirmed by the V5 and the odometer indicated 56,963 miles when entered for the sale. The original handbook is still with the car as is the period radio and the original tool kit and inspection lamp survive intact in the boot. The 6230cc eight cylinder engine and the automatic transmission are in good order as are the leather trim and carpets and generally this car is in really lovely condition and the white wall tyres are nearly new.
Being practically a one owner vehicle it can hardly have a better ownership pedigree either.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
