A prototype replica of the Austin Healey 3000 initially appeared under the name Harrier as early as 1985 and it was developed into a production ready prospect in 1989. There was originally hope that it would be marketed as a Healey since it was endorsed and collaborated on by Geoffrey Healey, but trademark problems forced the company to be called H.M.C. and the range was launched in two versions, the Mk IV with luxury trim and the Silverstone.
This 1999 example is the Mk IV in 'SE' trim and has been in the present owner's collection from new. He had it built to his own specifiction by H.M.C. Ltd at a cost of £45,500 and, some warranted 7800 miles later it is, not un-naturally, described as being in excellent condition throughout. The history file contains several brochures for H.M.C. Sportscars, including one for this specific four litre model, and a price list from 1997.
They have always been highly sought after when they have come to the market, as they still have the amazing and classic looks of the original Healey, mainly because modern technology can help to make long distance journeys more comfortable. A superb example of this very rare marque.
