The resurgant Triumph marque took the bold step in 1999 of announcing a 600cc Super Sport machine, bold because it was and remains the most competitive sector of the market dominated by the most technically advanced products that Japan can build. In entering the sector Triumph were inviting direct comparision between their product and the world leaders . The 600 TT drew favourable comparisions although a fueling glitch, quickly remedied, and interesting styling resulted in it being viewed as an "alternative" purchase. For 2003 a new machine emerged from Hinckley, developed from the TT, it retained the excellent handling characteristics of its predecessor but introduced revised styling and better performance. The new model also marked the (semi) offcial return of Triumph to the racetracks.
The factory sponsored the ValMoto Race Team, helping them to develop the Daytona 600 for use in the British Supersport Championship, the Isle of Man TT and the Macau Grand Prix with riders of the clibre of Craig jones, Jim Moodie, Bruce Anstey and John McGuiness in the saddle.
The machine offered is one of those built at the time. It was subsequently sold to Action Motorcycles during April 2005 who ran it in the 2005 Isle of Man Junior TT with Andrew Marsden in the saddle. It was subsequently raced by Ian Hutchinson at Scarborough, where he took an excellent third place behind Guy Martin and Ryan Farquhar. The machine was then entered in the Ulster Grand prix for Ian to ride, but was sidelined with mechanical problems during the race. On its return from Irleland it was repaired, refitted with the original ValMoto bodywork and retired from racing, beiong placed on display in the dealership.
This desirable piece of British racing history is described as being in very good condition in all respects.
