Reminiscent of the Renault 5 Turbo and based on the MKII Clio, the V6 Sport was a dramatic-looking, mid-engined homologation special that boasted rear wheel drive. Propulsion came from the 3.0-litre V6 Laguna engine upgraded to 227bhp and coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. As the engine occupied the space normally reserved for rear passengers, this hot hatchback was a motorcar made for two. Accelerated flat out, it could reach 60mph in just over six seconds and a terminal velocity of almost 150mph.
This Phase I version was delivered new to Northern Ireland in November 2002, moving across to the mainland three years later. It has apparently been treated to new brake discs all round and a replacement cambelt within the last 3,000 miles - the indicated total mileage of 74,500 is considered genuine by the vendor. The car's impressive specification includes 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, Momo steering wheel, power steering, air conditioning and a CD player. The vendor views the bodywork, engine and transmission as "very good" and the Silver paintwork and Blue suede/leather interior trim as "good". 'DEZ 4199' comes complete with service book showing six main dealer/specialist stamps, original handbooks, set of factory service manuals, spare key, several old MOTs and one valid into March 2013.
