Imperial War Museum Duxford

Lot 49

1955 Panther Model 65

Estimated at £1,500 - £2,500

Lot details
Registration No: UTF 123
Frame No: F9839
Engine No: 55JS2893
cc: 250
MOT Expiry Date: Exempt

Originally introduced in 1949 as a replacement for the Model 60, the Model 65 retained the long stroke dimensions of its predecessor but adopted an upright cylinder and was only available with a rigid frame. 1953 witnessed the introduction of a pivoted fork frame for the 65 and its sibling, the 350 model 75.
The Model 65 offered was restored approximately 5 to 6 years ago prior to its purchase by the present owner. He describes the machine being "tidy enough to use" cosmetically with a "newish" exhaust system and rebuilt wheels. The engine is a "good runner" and the transmission and electrics are all in working order. It is offered with a green log book, but an application has been made to the DVLA for the original registration number to be retained.
