Lot details
Registration No: 337 NOD
Chassis No: H39C078070
Mot Expiry: Sept 2018

- The subject of a five-page article in 'Classic Ford' magazine (Jan 2013)

- Treated to a very thorough, 'bare metal' restoration seven years ago that took some 2,000 hours

- One of only 39 survivors known to the DVLA (from a total production run of 2,002 cars)

Further Info:

Belonging to a bus company in Pudsey for eighteen years before entering the current ownership during 2010, '337 NOD' was subsequently treated to a 'bare metal' restoration that took some 2,000 hours to complete. Repainted in Sapphire Blue with an Ermine White roof, the four-seater had its Pre-Crossflow 1500cc engine thoroughly overhauled (+60 thou overbore / unleaded cylinder head etc) and allied to a five-speed Type 9 manual gearbox for high-speed cruising. The brake, steering and suspension assemblies were rejuvenated and brightwork refinished. The two-tone interior was renewed by Aldridge Trimming save for the brand new Webasto sunroof which was installed by ex-Webasto employee Peter Harvey. A garage owner and former racing driver, the vendor had owned a Consul Classic as an eighteen-year old apprentice. He undertook much of the refurbishment work himself but also had help from GHL Bodyworks of Ossett, Cowburn's Auto Engineers of Cleckheaton and The Classic & Capri Owners Club. Well known to the Club, the GT has appeared at numerous shows since its completion and also undertaken several Continental journeys. Still retaining its original Devon number plate, the Ford is almost as clean underneath as it is on top. The nicest example we have encountered, it is worthy of close inspection. Offered for sale with an album of restoration photos, owner's handbook, period brochures and MOT certificate valid until September 2018.
