  • Only circa 63,000 recorded miles and long-term current ownership
  • Supplied new by H. R. Owen Ltd. in 1974 with registration number ‘CCJ 1’
  • Resided in Cyprus since 2007, returning to the UK in 2020
  • Offered with large history file, toolkit, UK registration plates, and tonneau cover

In production between 1971 and 1996, the Rolls-Royce Corniche Drophead is the epitome of luxury open-air motoring. Fabled for its extravagantly sumptuous interior and hushed drivetrain, it was powered by a tuned version of Crewe's staple 6750cc V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission. Equipped with firmer springs, thicker anti-roll bars together, and revised steering geometry, it proved a more satisfying drive than its humbler saloon car siblings. The presence of olio-pneumatic suspension and a plethora of electric motors ensured that it remained a singularly cosseting experience.

This home-market right-hand drive example was manufactured in 1974 and supplied new by H. R. Owen Ltd., being UK registered on the 9th of September 1974 as ‘CCJ 1’. Purchased in 2007 by the vendor and exported to Cyprus in the same year for use on Cypriot shores, the Corniche was re-patriated earlier this year. Still demonstrating its Cypriot registration number during the photography session, the Rolls-Royce is UK registered under the number ‘JYJ 67N’ as specified on the V5C, and replacement registration plates are provided with the car.

Supplied with copies of the original build specification and check sheets, demonstrating that the Rolls-Royce was specified with a number of extras from new which included foglamps, internally adjustable mirror to the driver’s door, dark brown Lambswool rugs, and softer front seat squabs due to the first owner expressed during the order process that ‘modern’ car seats were too firm. Finished in Cream, with Beige leather interior and Tan hood, the Rolls-Royce is accompanied by the original service book showing several stamps (many from H. R. Owen or other specialist), original handbook, a quantity of past invoices and MOTs, and paperwork relating to the cars time in Cyprus including Identity Card and pictures.

Ratings: Please note, the Rolls-Royce has developed an intermittent fault with the hood and noise coming from the power steering pump. Requires some engine and gearbox recommissioning.

Vendor Condition Ratings:

Bodywork: ‘Good'
Engine: 'Good'
Electrical Equipment: ‘Average'
Paintwork: 'Very Good'
Gearbox: 'Good'
Interior Trim: 'Very Good'
