RREC Rockingham Castle

Lot 44

1953 Bentley R-Type James Young Saloon

Sold for £11,250

(including buyers premium)

Lot details
Registration No: OLA 814
Chassis No: B7TO
Mot Expiry: Exempt

Fitted with elegant saloon coachwork by James Young, this particular R-Type - chassis B7TO - was first road registered on 7th November 1953. Beginning life in London (or so its `OLA 814' number plate would imply), the Bentley was running and driving but forlorn when it entered the current ownership during mid-2007. Entrusted to Classic Restorations (Scotland) Ltd shortly thereafter, the R-Type underwent repairs to its ash frame and outer body panels before work came to a halt. Not started for five or so years, `OLA 814' needs re-trimming, rewiring and repainting etc as well as general recommissioning before a return to road use can be contemplated. Sold strictly as viewed, this coachbuilt Bentley is offered for sale entirely without reserve.
