Introduced in 1946, the MKVI was Bentley's first post-war model. Built around a massive cruciform-braced chassis with independent front suspension and a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, it was fitted with a freshly developed 4257cc OISE (overhead inlet side exhaust valve) straight-six engine mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. Capable of over 100mph when clad in the factory's understated but stylish 'standard steel saloon' coachwork, the MKVI quickly developed a reputation for being a refined yet responsive drive. Finished in Shell over Tudor Grey matched to a Red leather interior ‘PRB745’ was supplied new by Kennings Ltd of Clay Cross, Derbyshire where it has always remained in the same area and is the 4th from last small-bore example made. Having been in current ownership since 2000 and displaying a credible but unwarranted 71,266 miles ‘PRB745’ is offered with Brown logbook, handbook, chassis card records, tool kit plus a collection of old MOT certificates. Previously subject to an engine and gearbox overhaul by the vendor and fitted with an S/S exhaust the vendor informs us it is a ‘Very’ solid example and currently grades the engine, transmission, interior, electrical equipment and bodywork as Very Good’ with the paintwork as ‘Good’.
