The three cylinder 1978-1979 Laverda 1200 TS Mirage was one of the largest displacements ever to be fitted on a machine from Laverda. The 1,115 cc (68.0 cu in) produced 73 hp and 40 lbft and a weight of 545 lb (247 kg).
The overall condition is believed to be excellent. Keith Nairn from Laverda Scozia is very complementary of this particular machine. It’s also worth noting that it is believed to have never been resprayed. All the paintwork and chrome are said to be original, as is the seat, which is rare for a 42-year-old Laverda. There was obviously a benefit to bike living inside a house for nearly 30 years. Before each winter the bike is filled and run for 20 minutes using Aspen which is drained off in the spring. The bike has been heard to run smoothly with no faults, it burns no oil, and is completely reliable starting from cold on the button without hesitation.
Work completed over the last 6 years: Full carb rebuild - Ultrasonically cleaned with new jets, o rings, filters, choke rubbers, fuel lines, and clips, Rebuilt Marzocchi shocks with all new seals, Rebuilt forks with new seals, Replaced all hydraulic hoses to both brakes and clutch, Reinforced clutch casing (Laverda Scozia) Full brake overhaul with new brake pistons, seals, and master cylinder kits, Clutch master cylinder kit installed, Replaced primary and cam chains (Laverda Scozia), Replaced valve springs (Laverda Scozia), Replaced exhaust collector box, Replaced fuel taps, 630 chain and sprockets replaced with 530 upgrade, New battery in 2020, HT leads replaced. Included in the sale are the original fairing and engine panels. Also included is documentation of works done, spares invoicing, tax discs, and MOTs stretching far back.
