A rare complete copy entitled 'Offizieller Fuhrer zum Gordon Bennett Rennen 17 Juni 1904', the red cloth hard-backed covers holding 264-pages in German, French and English text, including many photographs, with a 4-section gatefold of the course gradients and fold out colour map of the area, featuring sections on the organisation and competing national automobile clubs, a report on the 1903 event in Ireland, the earlier French and British Eliminating Trials, the cars and drivers including Richard-Brasier, Mors, Napier, Wolseley, Mercedes, Opel-Darracq, Pipe and Lancia, the Homberg circuit in the Taunus Forest with its start and finish in Saalburg, including local history and topography, together with three full colour plates (with original tissue protection), three advertisement sections printed in green, red and blue respectively, complete with all indices. Leon Thery won for France easily beating the local Mercedes cars; his Richard-Brasier was fitted with shock absorbers, which gave him a significant advantage over the 318 mile course.
