This stunning-looking, right-hand drive, 6.3-litre wide-bodied Virage Volante was reportedly commissioned new by a member of a well-known Southeast Asian royal family, as an addition to his extensive car collection. The muscular body is finished in Rolls-Royce Blue and complemented by Medium Blue hide trim, carpets and hood. The 6.3-litre engine conversion increased the output over standard by no less than 40 per cent to a very purposeful 456bhp. This particular car has been further enhanced by the fitting of a sports exhaust system and is estimated to be producing nearer 500bhp. Moreover, it was supplied with the `sport option' transmission - the then newly developed Chrysler four-speed automatic Torqueflight transmission - that was apparently only fitted to two of the original 6.3-litre wide-bodied cars. The deeper front air dam and cavernous wheelarches filled with sizeable OZ split-rim alloy wheels are the more self-evident aspects of the wide-body conversion, which also included suspension and braking systems uprated in line with the increased power output. This example also features a bootlid spoiler for added downforce.

The Aston's V5C shows the vendor to be its fifth owner and he currently classes the Volante as having "good" bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, V8 engine and gearbox. Its odometer currently displays 21,000 miles and the car comes complete with: an MOT valid until March 27 next year, full Aston Martin dealer service history (including stamps by Aston Works Service) and numerous past MOT certificates. Though more powerful cars are readily available today, few from any era match this one's combination of blistering performance, hand-crafted luxury and imposing presence. Its sale therefore represents a rare and exciting opportunity for Aston Martin aficionados everywhere.

PLEASE NOTE: This lot is currently undergoing a cherished number plate transfer and will be re-registered as 'L374 WGF'. Its existing V5C Registration Document has been returned to the DVLA and a new V5C Registration Document will be forwarded to the successful purchaser (a photocopied V5C Registration Document can be viewed in the Documents Office).
