British engineer Eric Cheney developed a lightweight competition BSA Gold Star which saw success in the early 1970s when John Banks won the British Motocross Championship on a Cheney-framed BSA. Although he never worked for any of the major manufacturers he maintained a productive relationship with BSA in its heyday and after their demise in 1972, joined forces with former BSA factory rider John Banks to develop successful BSA powered off road bikes. His company was originally known as Eric Cheney Designs and is now known as Cheney Racing. Each of the hand built motorcycles took over 400 man hours to complete and are still very mich sought after today.
This BSA B44 Victor engined Cheney was built by Eric Cheney in 1971 and is presented in excellent condition in ISDT trim. Sporting a handmade lightweight Nickel plated frame and alloy tanks, mudguards and panels it typifies British produced off road specials of the late 1960s and early 1970s before the Japanese took over. Heavily modified in its day including external oil filters and internal chain tensioners amongst others.
