Among the most extreme Kei-class cars ever made, the Daihatsu Mira Avanzato TR-XX was introduced in 1994. Powered by a turbocharged 660cc DOHC four-cylinder engine allied to five-speed manual transmission, it was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and 100mph. Designed with the motorsport in mind, the subsequent R4 version boasted a limited slip differential and permanent four-wheel drive. A true pocket-rocket with roadholding and handling capabilities that evoked a Subaru Impreza WRX or Mitsubishi Evo, some 100 examples were officially imported by Daihatsu UK (and marketed as ‘Cuore’ rather than ‘Mira’). Eighty were sold as road cars with the other twenty being sent to Harry Hockly Motorsport for use in a one-make Rally Championship. Though, inevitably crash damage saw quite a few road cars being used to re-shell their competition siblings.
Still wearing its C.H. Bull & Sons supplier’s sticker, this UK-supplied example is warranted to have covered just 13,000 miles from new. Said to ‘drive beautifully’ and to be in a condition commensurate with its minimal mileage, the Daihatsu is due to possess a fresh MOT by the time of sale. Offered for sale with original sales brochure, book pack (including stamped service book), invoices and press cuttings etc.
