Although Bultaco are probably best know for their successes in off road competition the company had an illustrious history road racing. The company's first racing machines were essentially modified Tralla 101s, the degree of modification being dictated by the competition entered. However by 1961 the company was offering a dedicated racing motorcycle in the form of the TSS. The new machine utilised a developed version of the Bultaco two stroke single with a four speed gearbox housed in a frame made from cold drawn steel tubing with 1.5mm wall thickness. The new model established a pattern that was to continue throughout the sixties, with modifications being proven on the works bikes before being adopted by the "production" racers. The 125cc TSS was rapidly joined by variants in 175, 200 and 250cc capacities, progressing through four speeds to five and eventually six gears. The similarity of the power-plant to that used in the factory's other products and the close relationship of the road racers chassis to the one employed by the Tralla 102 and Metralla 62 has resulted in the production of a number of facsimiles over the years, one example of which is offered here.
The machine offered is believed to be based on a Metralla 250cc and is presented to a high standard throughout. A twin leading shoe front brake is fitted to the front with a full width item at the back. Both wheels have been built using alloy rims and the motorcycle is fitted with a full set of TSS replica bodywork.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
