The five-door Octavia hatchback and estate were launched in 1996 and hit the UK market in 1998. Based on the VW Jetta platform, the range was available with a lengthy selection of petrol and diesel engines and trim options. The version quickly adopted by enthusiast drivers was the 178bhp vRS, that was powered by a turbocharged 1.8-litre DOHC four-cylinder petrol unit similar to that that found in the original Audi TT. Quick, reliable and understated, it also became popular with the UK police.
The right-hand drive vRS offered is No.63 of 100 WRC Limited Edition versions built by Skoda to celebrate their 100 years of participation in motorsport. In common with the 99 others, it is finished in White plus rally decals and is equipped with ESP, Xenon lights and heated front seats. 'SV52 YRD' currently registers an unwarranted 126,318 miles, and is understood to have benefited from a service plus new water pump and cambelt at 112,615 miles. The vendor describes the bodywork as "good for the year" and the paintwork, engine and transmission as being "in good order". He notes that "there is a slight tear in the driver's seat". The speedy Skoda is being sold complete with two sets of keys, an MOT valid until September 2013 and road fund licence valid until 31st March 2013.
