In September 1983, the original Golf saw the official launch of the second-generation, yet it was March 1984 when the Mk2 was launched in the UK. Growing slightly in terms of wheelbase, exterior and interior dimensions, and a more rounded appearance than the Mk1's overall look, a total of 6.3 million Mk2’s were built globally. The GTI body kit became available on a non-injection Golf and was sold as the "Driver" trim level across Europe.
This 1991 Driver was first registered in the UK in October 1991 and is fitted with the 1781cc engine mated to an automatic gearbox. With only four former keepers and 101,100 miles from new, this highly original Golf is finished in the attractive colour scheme of Montana Green paintwork with cloth interior. “J390 LKJ” is provided with an MOT until August 2021 with no advisories, a full UK V5C, original stamped service book and instruction manual, extensive collection of past MOTs and some previous invoices. One invoice showing remediation work in 2018 which included an engine service and belts, rear brake drums, shoes and cylinders and rear wheel bearings.
