The Sherpa had quickly established itself as one of the leading mounts for trials competitors following its release in 1965, with the second series of machines being the most widely sold factory trials bike in the world. In the UK the models popularity was given a further boost when Villiers ceased motorcycle engine manufacture, effectively halting the production of a number of successful British built trials machines and leaving the market open for Bultaco, Montesa and Ossa. Unfortunately for Bultaco a change in law forbidding the use of fibreglass fuel tanks on the road prevented the use of the Kit Campeon Profesional equipped Sherpa on British roads. This led to the British importers commissioning a tank and seat unit of their own built in alloy for use on road registered machines and the blue and silver Sherpa offered is thus equipped.
Restored to a good standard with plastic mudguards and blue and silver paintwork it has formed part of a private collection.
