Lot details Registration No: RST 847 Chassis No: BAE42735 Mot Expiry: 08.06.2002
RST 847 is a Mark I 'Frogeye' Sprite and is one of the last as it was registered in June 1961. Its original registration number, which it still sports, denotes that it is a Scottish car where it has spent all of its life until now but due to a error by the Edinburgh Vehicle Registration Office the car was registered originally with its body number as its chassis number but this can be very simply rectified by the new owner although we think it is now a part of the character and history of this car.
The first owner sold the car to his next door neighbour and then bought it back some years later, as can be seen from the green logbook, and it then lay unused until purchased by its current owner in the early 1990's. At that point a major restoration commenced which took some 385 man hours and all the receipts for parts and the photographs of the restoration are present in the history file. The restoration retained such items as the rare tachometer and dials and the mileage is certified as genuine from new at 78,000 miles. It has been fully protected in all the body cavities but this can be removed to reveal the white paint if preferred.
It is a credit to its previous owner and we are informed that it drives superbly.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
