The Jaguar E-Type wowed the world upon its launch in 1961. Here was a sportscar that offered performance to beat Ferrari and Aston Martin at just half the price, wrapped up in a beautiful muscular body that was unlike any other contemporary sportscar. This combination of style, speed and value endeared it to the world’s elite and the E-Type was one of the coolest cars to be seen in throughout the 60s and 70s. The range expanded with a 2+2 derivative joining the Coupe and Roadster and evolved through steady stages until the final Series 3 V12s bowed out in 1975. Weighing just a few pounds more than the smaller 4.2L engine it replaced, the alloy blocked 5.3L V12 produced 272 BHP with vastly improved torque at 349 lb/ft. Even though the E-Type has now celebrated its 60th birthday it is still one of the most beautiful cars ever produced.

This matching numbers British Racing Green V12 Coupe first supplied by H R Owen on the 28th August 1973 has the desirable manual gearbox, a Webasto sunroof and comes with its original owner's manual including the extra wiring diagram and maintenance chart, and even a parts catalogue. The recorded mileage is a credible 41009 miles and the service record shows 11 services suggesting this is correct. The PDI service was carried out on the 30th August 1973 at 180 miles by the supplying dealer H R Owen with subsequent services at 1727 miles, 4173 miles, 7302 miles, 12500 miles, 26407 miles, 28655 miles, 30032 miles, 31850 miles, 39664 miles and 40239 over the next 50 years, all recorded in the original Jaguar 'Passport To Service' book. Also included are 12 MOTs starting in April 2009 at 38768 miles up until the current one at 40811 miles as well as numerous receipts for work carried on the car. In 2009 it was treated to a new fantail exhaust, an uprated starter motor and a Toad security system, 2010 saw a new carpet set and 2013 a £1758 overhaul including 4 new rear springs to correct the rear ride height. In the next few years maintenance was entrusted to XJ Motor services with invoices for almost £5000 worth of work including a new water pump and a RE Opus ignition upgrade. Also included in the sale is a tailored car cover and a spares kit including spark plugs and a full set of hoses. A rare chance to acquire a genuine low mileage E-Type with all its documentation in place, supplied with a current V5C and, even though not required by law, a MOT until the 1st August 2022.
