Lot details Registration No: YXG 811 Chassis No: 14178430
- Repatriated from Arizona in 2010 and dry stored since then
- Said to 'start and drive nicely' with a 'rust free chassis and body'
- A potentially straightforward and rewarding restoration project
As the vendor of this Primrose-coloured right-hand drive TA rightly notes, very few examples of the model remain unrestored these days. This apparently still unmolested one was repatriated from Arizona in 2010, since when it has been retained in dry storage. The vendor informs us that the body and chassis are rust-free but that the body's wooden framework is in need of some attention. Evidently 'YXG 811' is almost 100 percent complete and apparently 'starts and drives nicely', and the vendor sums up the MG's current condition as follows: engine and transmission 'good', bodywork and paintwork 'average', and interior trim and electrical equipment 'poor'. He feels the TA's restoration 'will be straightforward and the MG will make a beautiful car when it's done'. A perfect project for the Winter nights ahead. Introduced in 1936, the TA Midget remained virtually unchanged throughout its four years of production, during which 3,003 examples were manufactured.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
