BMW was established in the early 1900s as a manufacturer of aircraft engines and produced their first motorcycle in 1923, the R23, already sporting the flat twin boxer configuration they have now become synonymous with.
This beautifully presented BMW has undergone a complete rebuild in 2020 from a running but shabby standard R80. The frame has been professionaly powder coated in satin black along with the Vonzetti rear sub frame. The engine has only done just over 17000 miles and showed no signs of wear but it was treated to new seals and gaskets before being refinished in 2K engine enamel from Eastwoods. The twin Bing carburettors have been professionally cleaned and overhauled with a full service carried out including oil and air filter, all fluids and spark plugs. The most changes have been made to the electrical system, with a complete re-design incorporating the Ricks Motorsport Electrics reg/rec with a new lithium Antigravity battery. Motogadet has been used extensively on the rebuild including an M-Unit Blue Motoscope Pro dash, Keyless ignition, an M-button connecting to 2 three button Mo Switch handlebar controls and M blaze indicators on the front giving a clean uncluttered look. The 6 buttons control start, turn, horn, headlight and Motoscope Pro scroll through various options. These are fed through a M Button in the low rise handlebars back to the M-Unit. Further control of the lighting, alarm and ride statistics are available through the Motogadet App MoRide which connects via Bluetooth to the M-Unit. The fuel tank has been professionally resprayed with new hoses and fixings and a leather diamond stitched seat complete the Brat bike look. The original Brembo brakes have been overhauled with new seals, pads, HEL stainless braided hoses and fixing bolts. ASV clutch and brake levers are fitted to the Renthal handlebars with new knobbly tyres that have less than 20 miles on them, included are also a set of normal road tyres and a new improved Surefoot side stand that can be fitted should the new owner wish to. A very well carried out conversion that really needs to be viewed to be appreciated, supplied with a current V5C.
