The Volvo Amazon 132S is a Ruddspeed Sussex Racing Team replica and dates from 1965. It was raced in the Goodwood Revival St. Mary's Trophy in 2000 and 2001 by ex-Williams F1 Grand Prix and works Volvo driver Tom Belso and it is an FIA European Historic Touring Car Class winner and a regular Top Hat competitor.
It was built as a replica of a unique car that raced between 1964/66 and it has turned out to be a well-developed race/rally and road car. It was completely re-built for racing in 1999/2000 from an Historic Rally Car using a host of specially imported race parts from the USA and Scandinavia. Although the full specification is too long to list, features include a full race Bilstein suspension with I.P.D swaybars; an Andrew Thorogood freshly built 1822cc FIA legal engine which has a Swedish Unitek cam with all steel timing gears; an M410 gearbox with overdrive and 7speeds; a new clutch; a Quaife differential; Pole Classics competition halfshafts; an O.J.R dual circuit brake conversion and the original period alloys with excellent Dunlop Historic M's.
It has proved itself capable of beating bigger engined rivals and has featured in magazine articles in the USA and Belgium. It is currently taxed and Mot'd till Mar 2003 and ready to drive away from today's sale to take part in whatever kind of driving you want to experience - it is eligible for a dazzling array of Historic motorsport events, including the Goodwood revival again in 2003, having both FIA Race and Rally papers.
