The Montego was produced by British Leyland and latterly the Rover Group between 1984 and 1995, starting life as a four-door notchback. The high-performance MG version was offered using a 2.0 litre engine, and used the solid-state instrument cluster, trip computer, and synthesised voice for the information and warning systems. A total of 34,476 2.0i cars were produced with a further 7,276 Turbo’s with survivors now scarce.
This rare Montego EFi survivor has the 1994cc straight-four engine and manual five-speed gearbox. Finished in complimentary Red with Grey cloth interior, the EFi has covered a total of 64,000 miles from new and only has 5 former keepers, with it coming from a large MG and classic car private collection in current custodianship. Supplied with a fitted Hamilton car cover and replacement badges for the delaminated ones on the car, the Montego is rated ‘excellent’ throughout by the vendor, other than paintwork rated down to ‘very good’ due to repainting required to the rear spoiler.
