Arguably the most radical 'Vette in two decades, the fourth generation or C4 model was introduced in March 1983. Built around a C-section beam reinforced monocoque, it was equipped with composite transverse-leaf independent suspension and rack and pinion steering. Fitted with 16 x 8.5 alloy wheels shod with P255/50VR-16 tyres as standard (although this example is fitted with 285/40/17 tyres at the rear with 255/45/17 at the front), the C4's handling drew considerable praise from the contemporary press. Powered by a 350ci / 5.7 litre V8 engine mated to either four-speed automatic or manual gearboxes, it was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in under six seconds and over 140mph. Boasting new aluminium callipers, its four-wheel disc braking system proved more efficient than ever. Noticeably lower-slung than its predecessor, the new car actually possessed greater ground clearance (thanks to a cunningly routed exhaust) and a more spacious interior. A definite hit with buyers in the period, the latter's digital instrumentation now looks somewhat quaint.

This Corvette was manufactured in 1995 and is finished in the fetching colour combination of Torch red with black leather interior upholstery. The hood is trimmed in black and is said to be “fully functional with no rips or tears”. Costing a total of $46,934 when new, the Corvette has the 5.7-litre V8 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Corvette was specified from new with features including traction control; air-bags; anti-lock brakes; keyless entry (provided with a new fob to set function up); halogen headlights and fog lamps; analogue/digital instruments; cruise control; limited-slip differential; electric windows and doors and an intermittent wiper system. Provided with factory optional extras encompassing electric air-conditioning; Delco/Bose music system; performance axle ratio and leather adjustable sports bucket seats with electric adjusting (albeit the passenger seat forward and backwards is not functioning).

Registered in the UK in 2008, the C4 has had three UK keepers before entering current ownership in 2013. With a recorded mileage of 56,784 (atoc), the Chevrolet is accompanied by a history file comprising build sheet; Owner’s Manual; Chilton Repair Manual; and assorted paperwork dating back to 2008 including twelve past MOTs and invoices. Recently subject to an oil and filter service, the Corvette has also been provided with a gearbox overhaul in 2014 by Allcar Automatics Ltd (at 53,807 miles). Supplied with a no advisories MOT certificate that expires in August 2021, the Chevrolet is furthermore offered with two keys, the original toolkit, jack and spare wheel.
