Lot details Registration No: MLE307D Chassis No: MB48081DLBW Mot Expiry: June 2006
Introduced in 1963 as a rival to the likes of the equally new Rover P6 2000 and established Jaguar MK2 2.4, the 2000 was a capable sports saloon in the best Triumph tradition. Styled by Michelotti, its elegant four-door monocoque bodyshell was equipped with all round independent suspension (Macpherson strut front / semi-trailing arm rear), disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering. Powered by a smooth 1998cc OHV straight-six engine that developed some 90bhp and 117lbft of torque, it could be had with either four-speed manual or Borg Warner automatic transmission. As befitted a contender in the burgeoning 'executive' market, the 2000 boasted a nicely appointed interior complete with wood veneer dashboard and door cappings.
Finished in Wedgwood Blue over dark blue with medium blue vinyl upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, three-speed automatic gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork and paintwork. Believed but not warranted to have covered just 10,048 miles from new (a figure apparently partially substantiated by "lots of old MOTs etc"), it has been in the current ownership for "approximately two years". Said to "drive spot on", this elegant Triumph is offered for sale with history file ("original registration books, spare keys etc") and MOT certificate valid until 28th June 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
