The Honda Motor Company was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1937, initially producing piston rings for Toyota. They made their first motorcycle in 1949 and within 10 years had become the biggest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, going on to make over 400 million two-wheelers as well as millions of other power products. The launch of the four cylinder CB750 in 1969 ushered in the 'superbike' boom in the seventies and the arrival of the CBR900 Fireblade in 1992 set a new benchmark for sports bike performance. Now in its 30th Anniversary year, the very name 'Fireblade' still sets hearts racing.
This very original first generation model is presented in the classic early Fireblade colours, so iconic that Honda has reprised the scheme on this year’s 30th Anniversary celebration model. The Tadao Baba designed bike was a game changer in its day and is surely going to become a future classic, especially presented in standard and original condition like this one. The bike has been part of a private collection for the last few years and is still sporting its original genuine Honda exhaust can, screen and indicators, all items many owners changed in the past. Run last year, it will need a light recommissioning before use and comes supplied with its original owner’s manual, service book, warranty card, tool kit and a current V5C. The service book shows six services with supplying dealer Silver Machine at 194 miles (29-09-94), 612 miles (25-01-95), 1957 miles (20-09-95), 4050 miles (03-10-96), 5527 miles (17-06-98) and 12000 miles (12-08-2000). It then saw very little use as part of a private Honda collection being maintained by the enthusiast owner for a number of years until bought by the vendor and stored inside his house for the last 4 years. A fast appreciating classic.
