In 1962, and following pre-war practice of fitting 6-cylinder motors in hitherto 4-cylinder powered chassis, Triumph introduced their Vitesse with a 1596cc 6-cylinder engine in a lengthened Herald frame, with similar body panels and modified front end incorporating four headlamps. The Vitesse was built by Standard-Triumph from May 1962 to July 1971. The car was styled by Giovanni Michelotti, and was available in saloon and convertible variants, firstly with a 1600cc engine then latterly with a 2000cc version, which this model is fitted with.
Manufactured new in 1971 and registered new in the United Kingdom on the 10th of March 1971, the Vitesse offered is finished in Teal with Black interior upholstery and hood. Entering current ownership seventeen years ago, the Triumph has been used as a second vehicle and has received regularly maintenance as required. Displaying some 76,000 miles on the odometer, the Vitesse has just three former keepers shown on HPI. Cosmetically now requiring some TLC, the Triumph has been recently mechanically fettled and started readily and ran well during our photography session.
