First sold to Russel WM Ward in Norwich who may well have been a motorcycle dealer for the Norwich area.
It then changed hands in 1934 to a Mr Sidney Nelson Tillett of Stalham, Norfolk who only it would appear owned it for 2 months.
It was then Purchased by the late Frederick Miles Quantrell in the Norwich area who was to be the Panther's longest registered keeper.
Frederick Quantrell was very much a P&M Panther enthusiast who owned many other Panther motorcycles over the years proceeding.
Within the documents and provenance supplied with this Panther there are many letters and invoices from Phelon & Moore detailing work to be carried out on various Panther engines and parts to be supplied.
In one case there are also a series of letters, invoices and correspondence dated 1935/ 36 relating to the engine from this Panther, engine number 91348 being sent back to Phelon & Moore for inspection and work to be carried out by them.
Fred even kept 2 of the original Panther logo envelopes that some of the letters came in!
Fred Quantrell used the Panther as a daily work and commute bike for the next 21 years and there are a series of original tax discs for this Panther with years ranging from 1934 up until 1955 when it is believed the bike was laid up for rest in Fred's old workshop.
Sadly, Frederick Miles Quantrell passed away in 1989 and the 1929 Panther model 50 was bequeathed by Fred to his nephew John Quantrell Jnr.
There is a copy of Fred's handwritten will detailing various vehicles and motorcycles Fred owned and who they were to be bequeathed to.
John Quantrell had the Panther in its original condition for the next 5 years until in 1995 when he asked the late Mr Ted Scott to restore the 1929 Panther model 50 for him as promised to his Uncle Fred Quantrell.
Ted Scott agreed to take on the 1929 Panther and the restoration was started in early 1995.
There are letters between John Quantrell and Ted Scott relating to the Panthers restoration progress and lists detailing jobs that were completed and jobs to still be completed.
There are also several photos of the Panther as it was being restored by Ted Scott.
Ted Scott himself was also a very well-respected Panther enthusiast and restorer and owned and restored a beautiful 1933 Panther model 100 Redwing Twin headlight model.
A copy of a write up detailing this and some pictures of Ted Scott will be included with the Panther.
The Panther had its first public debut and outing in 2003 at the Goat classic vehicle show in Skeyton, Norfolk where it won Best motorcycle in show. There is a photo of the bike at the show with the Trophy that it won.
John Quantrell decided to sell the Panther in 2007 and it was purchased by Jennifer Butcher of Enfield, North London.
Jennifer along with current owner her son Joe Butcher took the bike on and had many outings with it and attended many steam shows and rallies with the bike over the next 5 years including a trip to the Great Dorset Steam fair where it won 3 Separate cups and prizes for Best motorcycle in show, best vintage motorcycle in show and best motorcycle as chosen by other exhibitors.
Since then the Panther was purchased by Jennifer's son Joe Butcher and has since been in dry storage, kept clean and tidy and regularly started.
This 1929 P&M Panther model 50 is in excellent mechanical condition and is being sold together with a current V5, all the original provenance including letters from Phelon & Moore, 2 old brown logbooks, all the original old tax discs, lots of old insurance certificates including some from the 1930's.
A copy of a 1929 Sales catalogue, an engine / gearbox maintenance manual as well as an original Amal carburettor hints and tips booklet for 1929.
