The CB1300 X4 was developed by Honda as a competitor to Yamaha's Vmax, a rare bike as it was never officially imported into Europe. The vendor of this X4, being offered at no reserve, is former chairman of Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club of Finland (Japsistarat Ry) who has long experience in restoring, rebuilding and customising Japanese motorcycles. The bike was imported into Finland from the UK in 2020 and is fitted with a Holset Turbocharger and lower compression J&P pistons and rings, designed for turbo charger use, with the correct squish band and 8.5 compression ratio. Custom-built aluminium tubing has been constructed with a three-way bypass valve from the turbo to the custom-built air-box, attached to a later CB1300 fuel injection. A bespoke exhaust system has been made, fitted with a separate waste gate for quicker and more accurate function, with re-chromed stock silencers that have been bored out for better gas flow. The radiator has been rebuilt and pressure tested and a custom-built lock-up clutch has been fitted to handle the extra power. As the attached dyno chart indicates there is linear and smooth power delivery all the way from idle up to full power of 233 hp and a torque figure 227 Nm at 6400 rpm.
The chassis has not been ignored, with new steering, swinging arm and wheel bearings, custom-built stiffer front suspension and a brake overhaul including lighter wave style brake rotors front and rear and new pistons and seals. Braided clutch and brake lines are fitted together with black rubber covers to make them look stock and the chain and sprockets have been replaced. The frame has been blasted and powder coated and an adjustable steering damper has been added with crash bungs to protect the engine. Comfort has been taken care of with a modified seat with thicker padding, giving a higher riding position with less sharp knee angle, and a pair of alloy handlebars. An incredible specification for what must be a unique bike now producing more than double its stock power.
*PLEASE NOTE. This bike has been brought in from Finland on a temporary basis. It was imported into Finland from the UK (original UK reg.no.W167XAA) in 2020 and if it stays in the UK when sold it will need to get a NOVA Certificate, details on the DVLA website. This normally involves paying 5% VAT on the total sale price and about £125 in customs declaration paperwork, our shipping partner (shippio.com) can help with this process. Please check these details and bear this in mind when bidding.
