Horex was a German motorcycle manufacturer, founded in 1923 by Fritz Kleemann in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe in Hesse, the brand name originating from the first letters of Homburg, supplemented by the Rex trademark of his parents canning glass company. World War II interrupted motorcycle production but they resumed in 1948 with a 350cc single-cylinder model, the SB 35 Regina, and in 1951 Horex added a 500cc OHC parallel-twin. In 1954 a 400 cc version of the Regina was launched, but by 1956 total production was only 2790 motorcycles and the company decided to suspend production and concentrate on manufacturing car parts for Daimer-Benz, eventually being taken over by them in 1960. Horex motorcycles were rarely exported and only a few are thought to survive outside Germany.

This 1964 Horex Regina is a rare survivor indeed, registered here and new in the UK, with just three owners from new. It is in very original condition for its age, recent work has been carried out to the carburettor and engine, and it runs and rides very well. It has had new exhaust pipes and silencers and a new headlight rim with glass and reflector, battery strap and key at great cost. It is being offered with a current V5C, bills for over £1,000 in parts, and an RF60 buff logbook.
