Fantic is a relatively young Italian company that began producing bikes in 1968. They have always had a reputation for making unusual models, non more so than the 50cc TX130 Chopper that must be the most outlandishly styled bike from the sports moped era. When launched in 1972 it offered 16 year olds a taste of the 'Easyrider' lifestyle with its extended forks, ape bars, peanut petrol tank and tall backrest although it cost almost twice as much as a FS1E in the day.
This c.1980 example is the later model with fixed footrest rather than the earlier bikes pedals needed to comply with the moped regulations up to 1977. It appears to have been sold first in Germany and comes with a 'Betriebserlaubnis erteilt' (Operating permit) document dated 20-08-80. Part of a deceased estate it has not run for a number of years but the engine turns over on the kickstart with compression and looks to be quite original. Would make a very rare and interesting restoration project.
