The Cortina was personally used by Jeremy Clarkson who congratulated me on how the car looked and performed as it was a Gold Cortina 1600E that started his love affair with cars in the first instance, as part of The Grand Tour programme the Cortina (JCC 868J) has been included in their PS4 game.
The 'numbers matching' 1600GT engine was stripped down where it was noted the bearing sizes and cylinder bores were all standard which backs up the odometer reading of 44k. The crankshaft was then cleaned up with new plus size bearings new pistons and camshaft /followers a brand new Borg and Beck 3 piece clutch assembly was sourced and fitted along with brand new clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder, new timing chain/ tensioner sourced and fitted, new old stock water pump, hoses and benefits from waterless coolant, it retains its original FoMoCo radiator, it has a brand new inertia starter motor and it retains its original factory fitted dynamo which was stripped and checked. The Weber Twin choke carburettor was striped, ultrasonically cleaned and re-jetted and set-up on a dynamometer, it boasts of a unique stainless steel exhaust system (complete) with a one off designed and measured manifold. It retains its original ignition system (points & condenser) with the exception of the spark plug leads which are of competition quality (Magnacor)
Interior
The car retains its original seats that were in remarkable condition and only needed a detailed clean which yet again backs up its original odometer reading, the carpets were replaced along with quality underlay along with all four door cards, the door cappings and dashboard facia were re-laminated in ash, all instruments were stripped cleaned and checked, a new fuel tank sender was fitted at this point, a period Sharp Radio cassette was sourced and fitted.

Introduced in autumn 1966, the Ford Cortina MKII was styled in-house by Roy Haynes. Employing much the same floorpan as its predecessor complete with independent front suspension, a 'live' rear axle and disc / drum brakes, it nevertheless benefited from a wider track and revised steering geometry. Unveiled at the October 1967 Paris Motor Show, the 1600E utilised the same lowered suspension settings and tuned four-cylinder Kent `crossflow' engine as its Lotus-Cortina and GT 1600 siblings respectively. Visually distinguished by a black grille, front foglights and plated Rostyle wheels, the newcomer also boasted an upmarket interior complete with a woodgrain-trimmed dashboard and door cappings, bucket seating, sports steering wheel and extensive instrumentation. Capable of nigh-on 100mph and brisk acceleration, the model was facelifted for 1969 but phased out the following August after some 55,833 four-door and 2,749 two-door (export only) cars had been built.
