Yamaha offered the little YL1 Twinjet, together with its sister, the YL2C Trailmaster, between 1966 and 1971. In it's export form the the little twin displaced approximately 100cc's, the domestic market model having slightly less capacity at 90cc's, resulting in a power output of 9.5 bhp at 8,500rpm. A four speed gearbox transmitted the power to the rear wheel via a chain, which in some markets was fully enclosed. The machines cycle parts followed contemporary Japanese lightweight practise, with a pressed steel spine frame that incorporated the battery box being employed. Simple telescopic forks and a pressed steel swinging arm controlled by two damper units provided the suspension. Yamaha's "Autolube" oil injection system for engine lubrication was fitted to the comprehensively equipped machine.
This nicely presented example, finished in blue and silver was formerly owned, according to the vendor, by Hans A Huth of Target Design, the stylist of the Suzuki Katana range and is offered with a German registration document.
