Derived from the dry sumped C71, the wet sumped C72 introduced during 1959 for the 1960 model season was a significant motorcycle for Honda, spearheading their move into the British and European markets.

Its angular lines, pressed steel spine frame, swinging arm and leading link front forks may have appeared a little odd to riders used to the products of Small Heath, but for many their reservations were dispelled by the machines excellent performance (a top speed approaching 80 mph), high specification that included a (reliable) electric start and indicators and high quality finish. The only negative characteristic reported in contemporary road tests concerned the handling which left a little to be desired. In use the machine proved to be exceptionally reliable and civilised, riders noting with some surprise that it neither leaked or burnt oil and was easily capable of mile a minute cruising once the pilot had adapted his riding style to suit the "revvy" nature of the engine.

The example offered, dating from 1964, has been restored to a high standard and is attractively presented with red paintwork.
