  • 90,555 miles (atoc) from new

Launched in September 1975 as a replacement for the E-Type, the XJS could only cheat time for so long and, in 1991, parent company Ford thoroughly reworked the luxury Grand Tourer at a cost of £50 million. Incorporating some 40 percent new panels, the rejuvenated model range sported a revised grille, headlamps, tail-lights, bumpers and rear wings. Its cabin, meanwhile, gained a new walnut facia and improved sports seats. The new version was powered by either a punchy straight-six (3980cc) or a soporific V12 (5343cc) engine; the former DOHC unit developed some 223bhp and 283lbft of torque. Featuring a five-speed manual transmission as standard, the 4.0-litre XJS could also be had with a four-speed automatic gearbox. Capable of over 140mph, the model proved to be a refined and relaxing drive, and production continued until 1996. The 'Celebration' was the final iteration of Jaguar's XJ-S (later XJS). Its unique specification was in recognition of 60 years of the Jaguar brand and included: chromed rear view mirrors and headlight surrounds; diamond cut alloy wheels; wood trim for the steering wheel and gearlever; and seats featuring embossed Jaguar 'leapers' and contrasting piping.

This XJS Celebration was manufactured in 1996 and was registered new in the United Kingdom on the 7th of February 1996. Supplied new by, and first registered to Frosts Jaguar, Portslade, Sussex, this Celebration model is fitted with the 3980cc ‘AJ16’ straight-six, coupled the four-speed ZF automatic transmission. The Jaguar is presented in Sapphire Blue with the much favoured Oatmeal leather interior. With only four owners from new, three of those private, having been first registered to Frosts Jaguar. The Celebration entered current ownership in 2020 and has covered a total of 90,555 miles (at time of consignment) from new, with only 2,000 miles covered in the last five years.

Offered with a history file comprising a large collection of both past MOT certificates and invoices, the Jaguar is accompanied by two keys and an indoor fitted car cover. Subject to much restoration work in 2020 and 2021 since entering current ownership to the cost of c.£11,300. Said works include wood veneer refurbishments, bodywork renovation and repainting to the renovated areas, new back exhaust section and cat pipe repairs and the fitting of new HiFi speakers. Benefitting from a transmission oil and filter service in July 2020 and an engine service in May 2021 including new spark plugs, alternator belt, and air-conditioning belt. The XJS also benefits from receiving new front brake calipers and steering bushes in June 2021. Further accompanied by the original book pack comprising the Service Record and Warranty; Sales and Service International Directory; Maintenance Schedules; Sound Systems booklet; Vehicle Care guide; Drivers Handbook and Security System guide. The service book displays eight service stamps, mostly from Drabble and Allen Jaguar.
