The Audi 100 was produced between 1968 and 1994 and was the company's largest car since the revival of the Audi brand by Volkswagen in 1965. By 1987, the C3 or 3rd Edition boasted 10 engine variants from 1.8L to 2.5L in both petrol and diesel guise and manual or automatic transmission. Aerodynamics were key to fuel efficiency, and as the world awoke to the importance of this, they in turn awoke to the futuristic Audi ovals. Indeed, the 1983 Audi 100 edged out the Ford Sierra to be awarded the 1983 European Car of the Year. The Turbo Quattro was the range-topping Estate model with a 2,226cc five-cylinder MC engine allied to five-speed manual transmission allowing a 0-100km/h of just 8.2 seconds and a maximum speed of 213km/h. The model also utilised coil spring front and rear suspension and featured five-stud wheels.
Manufactured new in 1990, ‘H369 WUF’ was supplied new by Wadham Stringer Audi of Brighton on the 1st of September that year and was supplied new to S & F Electrics Ltd. Finished from new in the striking and attractive colour of Tornado Red paintwork with Grey cloth interior upholstery, the 100 Avant Turbo Quattro is a very rare modern classic, with only five examples known roadworthy in the United Kingdom. Purchased into current ownership in 2017 and has had some five former keepers, the Audi has received two speedometer changes with genuine Avant Turbo Quattro speedometers during its life (one in 2009 and one in 2021), meaning the true mileage is some 55,000 miles more than shown on the speedometer, which records c.86,000 miles currently and therefore equates to approximately 140,000 miles in total.
Benefitting from extensive improvement during the vendor’s ownership, the Quattro Turbo Avant has benefitted from renewed shock absorbers and springs; brake discs, pads and lines; new clutch; new cambelt and water pump; engine, gearbox and differential services, with many parts supplied by Audi specialists Quattro Corner. The Audi has also received an exterior repaint with the glasswork removed. Offered with the original book pack including the stamped service book, numerous previous MOT certificates, several invoices for work completed, tax discs, and a current V5C document. Rated by the vendor as having ‘very good’ bodywork, paintwork, engine, gearbox and interior trim, the electrical equipment is rated as being ‘good’. This is a opportunity to acquire a very rare and practical modern classic!
