Built in Belle Plaine, Minnesota between 1999 and 2000, the Excelsior Henderson Super X was the brainchild of Dan Hanlon. The new factory had a capacity to produce 10,000 machines annually, although total production amounted to approximately 1900 units. Released at the height of the dot com boom and seeking to exploit lengthy waiting lists for some of the premium Harley models, the new machine employed a 1400cc vee twin engine unique to the marque housed in cycle parts built for it. Unfortunately, with the collapse of the dot com bubble the market contracted rapidly with production of the $18,500 machines ending in 2000.
The example offered has recorded 13,300 miles and was imported into the UK in 2005. Number 165 of the 1900 or so produced, it is, according to the vendor, fitted with all the factory options including a sissy bar, rack, crash bars and front spot lights. Described as being in good condition throughout it is offered with a Swansea V5C, an Mot certificate valid until October 2015 and previous Mot certificates from 2012 to 2014.
