Sold for £1,688

(including buyers premium)

Lot details

On May 14th 1961 Stirling Moss won the Monaco Grand Prix in style, beating the Ferraris in the Rob Walker Lotus-Cosworth 18. This was not only Stirling's last race at Monaco but also his final victory in the Principality. This fine timepiece is finished in the team colours of Rob Walker racing and every dial is hand signed by Sir Stirling Moss prior to the watches assembly. Each watch is individually numbered and is engraved to the rear with the date and race finish details. Displayed within a presentation display box, which is also signed and numbered by Sir Stirling Moss. Finished in polished German stainless steel, the movement is a Swiss Valjoux ETA 7750 Chronograph movement with a quick change calendar, water resistant to 5 atm. The glass is Italian Sapphire. The watch is limited to just 161 pieces worldwide - this example being number 20, Moss's race number for the event. Excellent, unworn condition.
