  • Offered as a restoration project having spent approximately ten years in storage

Based on the previous SAAB 99's chassis with an extended front end to meet recently imposed impact regulations, the 900 was first produced in 1978 and would prove to be the Swedish brand's most popular vehicle to date. Retaining the drivetrain layout of its predecessor, it's unconventional longitudinally mounted inline 4-cylinder motor sent its power out towards the front of the car and into a transaxle mounted directly below the engine. The powerplant would continue to gain features over the production run eventually gaining two camshafts, 16 valves, and a turbocharger in the top models. An ever-expanding lineup of body styles would also be introduced with the convertible hitting the scene in 1986 after demand rose for such a vehicle, especially in the U.S. market.

Manufactured in 1989, this 900 Turbo was supplied new in left-hand-drive configuration and did not reach the United Kingdom’s shores until 1995. Finished in Red with Tan leather interior upholstery and a Black hood, and fitted with the 2.0-litre 16-valve turbocharged engine mated to the scarcer manual gearbox, the Saab has a recorded mileage of 72,152 miles (at time of consignment). Acquired in 1995 by the vendor's late father, ‘A6 XUS’ has remained in the family since then. Offered as a restoration project, having spent at least the last ten years in storage, the 900 Turbo is offered without reserve and with a current V5C document.
